2010 - 2011 School Year (click here for more information and pricing)

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
Spanish House offers a Half-Day or a Full-Day Spanish Immersion Preschool for children ages 2 – 5. Students will begin their journey towards becoming bilingual students by participating in a wide variety of kinesthetic, artistic and pre-literacy activities. Normal “preschool” skills will be taught, including socialization, fine and large motor development, as well as mathematics and literary concepts, only they’ll all be taught in Spanish. Through body movement, games, art activities and music, students will become accustomed to hearing the Spanish language and will be encouraged to speak the language when they are ready. We understand that at the beginning of the course, students may feel apprehensive or unsure about the language, but with nurturing support from our experienced teachers, students will quickly assimilate into the all-Spanish environment. Previous exposure to Spanish is not required to enter the program.

Students may attend the 5-day, 3-day or 2-day program. Classes are held between 9am – 12pm (half-day) or 9am - 3pm (full-day), Monday – Friday.

Class sizes are kept small so that each student receives personalized attention. Each class has one teacher and one assistant, both of whom are native-Spanish speakers with experience in early childhood education. Healthy snacks and drinks are provided daily.

MISSION STATEMENT
Successful learning occurs through authentic, enjoyable experiences. We believe that instruction of a second language must be delivered with passion and a genuine love for the language. Children must be permitted to learn through games and activities that require total physical response. We are committed to meeting children’s individual needs and ensuring that they leave Spanish House with the ability to comprehend and speak Spanish, as well as a cultural awareness that will have lasting benefits throughout their childhoods.
