Spanish House beginning classes ensure
that students receive a solid foundation of the Spanish language. Speaking,
listening, reading and writing exercises will be utilized. Specific skills
that will be taught include:
A1 (for first-time
Spanish Learners)
- The verbs TO BE (ser and estar)
- Phonetic understanding of Spanish alphabet
- Simple present tense
- Future tense using "ir+verb"
- Common verbs in the preterit (past) tense
- Articles
- Number and gender of nouns
- Days of the week and names of the months
- Demonstrative and Possessive adjectives
- Personal pronouns (possessive, demonstrative,
direct objects)
- Vocabulary with an emphasis on the home, office,
restaurant, city and professions

with some basic knowledge of Spanish)
- Regular and irregular verbs in simple present tense
- Personal pronouns (indirect objects)
- Adverbs and adjectives
- Regular and irregular verbs in preterit (past) tense
- Prepositions

- Vocabulary with an emphasis on foods and parts of body
